Maybe he was listening to a walkman/ipod/8-track boom box and didn't hear the train coming?

Not all trains are thoughtful enough to come at you face first.

he's probably homeless or without insurance and we all (taxpayers) will have to pay for his recovery.

You have to be a special kind of stupid to get hit by a slow moving train while on foot. There is only one place in the world you can get hit by a train- ON THE TRACKS!! The Darwin theory almost worked with this person. Maybe he wanted to get hit by a train? The fact he lived through it proves he needs to go buy a lottery ticket this week, this is his lucky week for sure.

Maybe too much to drink and watching 'Hancock' this weekend led to this incident.

How to survive a train in 2 easy steps...
    1. face oncoming train
    2. take 2 steps to the left OR right

That's pretty much all there is to it.

How hard is it to get out of the way of a train, especially a slooow moving freight. Train runs on tracks, it can't follow you.
