Reminder: Free museum admission at many NC museums on Saturday, 9/28!

Here's one more reminder that you can visit one of many participating local museums for FREE on Saturday, September 28 as part of the Smithsonian Magazine's Museum Day Live event! Whether you are looking for a Raleigh area outing or a day trip, there are plenty of interesting museums that are participating in North Carolina!

Head to   for a list of museums and to register for your tickets. Once you register, the tickets will be sent to your e-mail to print. The tickets are good for up to 2 people. If there are more than 2 of you, it appears that each adult can sign up and bring someone else. Their website indicates that there is one Museum Day Live! ticket per household, per valid email address. Museum Day Live! Ticket will be collected upon entry.

NC Museum of History in Raleigh

Old Salem Museums and Gardens in Winston-Salem

Fascinate-U Children's Museum in Fayetteville

Duke Homestead State Historic Site in Durham

Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University in Durham

Carolina Raptor Center in Huntersville

Orange County Historical Museum in Hillsborough

Ava Gardner Museum in Smithfield and many more throughout NC and the U.S.!

    Meredith88...I agree. The science museum in Durham is great, but way too expensive, IMHO. I only go there for b-day parties or if I get discounted tickets

    This is an awesome idea but I am a little sad that the only museum on the list in Raleigh is the NC Museum of History who already offers free admission every day. We are lucky to have so many of the museums in the Capital that are always free but I would've loved to see the big science museum in Durham on the list. It's a great place to take the nieces and nephews, it just costs so much.

    Wonderful! I will be at a marching band competition for my daughter's band that day or we would be heading to a museum as well!

    Nice deal....I never even knew there was a childrens museum in Fayetteville. My granddaughter & I will be checking it out on Sept. 28! Thanks Faye for posting this info. Ya gotta love free stuff! :)
