I'm so excited for our first big event at Midtown Park in North Hills in Raleigh on Tuesday! From 10 a.m. to noon, we're going to have all kinds of free activities for kids and their adults. If you're looking for a way to while away a couple of hours on Tuesday morning, come out and see us!

While we usually take over the commons on North Hills' west side, this week, we move to the one-acre Midtown Park on the east side of Six Forks Road right next to the new Chuy's. The park features a stage and big open grassy area, along with a fountain that I'm told kids love to play in (you might want to bring your towels!).

North Hills is off Six Forks Road right next to its intersection with the Beltline.

What's in the line up for the morning?

Marbles Kids Museum will bring out some of its favorite Radical Recess games such as hula hoops, Ogo sport, parachute games and more. Kids also will be able to make their own recycled jump ropes. Christa Dreese, Marbles' healthy-active play specialist, will be out with all kinds of tips and ideas.
First-In Fire Company, which is available for birthday parties and other special events, will be there with its fire truck for kids to climb in, on and explore.
N.C. Theatre, which is gearing up for a production of "Disney's The Little Mermaid" will be out with information and activities. Kids can make construction paper crowns and Popsicle stick picture frames or play with bubbles. They'll also have a contest for a four-pack to see "The Little Mermaid!"
A balloon man will be making shapes of all kinds courtesy of Broadway Series South, which also will share more information and activities about the Storybook Theater performances for children, including "How I Became a Pirate," a live show based on the popular children's book. It opens Wednesday. They'll have a ticket giveaway too!
As usual, we also will offer free child IDs, small cards with your child's vital information and fingerprints on it to carry in your wallet in case of emergency, courtesy of New York Life Insurance Company.
The Chick-fil-A cow will be there from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The newly named Flour Power Kids Cooking Studio, formerly Lil' Chef, will offer a yummy activity for kids. The studio, with programs for kids to teens, will move from the west side of North Hills to a space across from Midtown Park later this year.
Oscar William Cotton Candy will be on hand with samples of its gourmet cotton candy, which uses no artificial colors or flavorings.
And The Spanish Corner, a new program offering Spanish language classes and camps for kids, will be there with information and activities.
North Hills Kids, free play time for kids, is offered through the end of August from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday, on the commons on the west side of Six Forks Road.

Starting in June, North Hills began offering free play for kids on Tuesday mornings through Aug. 19 at the new Midtown Park.

We hope to see you there!
