Franklin school superintendent resigns

Posted April 30, 2009

— Franklin County Schools Superintendent Bert L'Homme has resigned to take a job in Washington, D.C., a district spokesman said Thursday.

L'Homme will become director of education policy and coordinator for the Cradle to Prison Pipeline Crusade with the Children's Defense Fund, district spokesman Nathan Moreschi said.

L'Homme has been superintendent in Franklin County since January 2004. His resignation takes effect at the end of June, Moreschi said.

The district will soon begin the process of looking for a new superintendent, Moreschi said.

A good man LOL that comment would be funny if you weren't serious about it. I think that "ImFindingMyself" nailed it with "This is a blessing to the county." Now if they can get rid of some of the rest of the crowd

Thank God he is leaving!!!! I hope he does just as bad as he has done here in Franklin County. My son had to change schools because of him. Now maybe we can FINALLY get someone in the this position that actually cares about the children and their well being!!!! Because he never did!!!!!

This is week old news to Franklin County. But I certainly hope that WRAL will start getting more news online and on TV to Franklin County viewers as the The Franklin Times will no longer allow non subscribers to read the paper online beginning May 1.

This is a blessing to the county and the corruption that has been going on there! Maybe now they can get someone in there to enforce the policies and get those kids back up to satisfactory levels.. We moved out of county because of this man and his ( lack of) administration.

Bert is a good man. Orange County was foolish to let him get away.
