Franklin County faces budget cuts

County finance Director Chuck Murray says the county is about $11 million short in its departments' budget requests.

LOUISBURG, N.C. — Franklin County finance officers say they aren't going to be able to meet the budget needs of all its departments for the upcoming budget year.

County finance Director Chuck Murray says the county is about $11 million short in its departments' budget requests.

For example, Sheriff Pat Green reported that $1.3 million was cut from his department budget.

Other county departments are being asked to cut back use of vehicles to save on gas costs.
