Franklin County faces budget cuts

Posted May 22, 2008

— Franklin County finance officers say they aren't going to be able to meet the budget needs of all its departments for the upcoming budget year.

County finance Director Chuck Murray says the county is about $11 million short in its departments' budget requests.

For example, Sheriff Pat Green reported that $1.3 million was cut from his department budget.

Other county departments are being asked to cut back use of vehicles to save on gas costs.

I agree, but they should also cut the good ol' boy network over there as well. Murray is a headless nail in that bunch (you can drive them in, but you can't drive them out).

Perhaps the other counties can take a lesson for Franklin. Cutting is a healthy thing.
