Four injured after vehicle-involved shooting on US 64 in Rocky Mount

Four people were injured early Sunday during a shooting involving a vehicle as it was traveling east on U.S. Highway 64 in Rocky Mount, police said.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Four people were injured early Sunday during a shooting involving a vehicle as it was traveling east on U.S. Highway 64 in Rocky Mount, police said.

The shooting occurred at 1:25 a.m. near the Raleigh Street exit off the highway, shutting down the road for several miles.

Three of the four involved, an adult female, a juvenile and an infant were all taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for treatment. The infant was listed in serious condition Sunday night. The adult female was listed in fair condition. Both juveniles, a black male and a black female, were listed as stable.

The names of the injured were not released.

Employees at nearby restaurants and gas stations said detectives reviewed their surveillance video.

Police said the shooting wasn't random, but at this point, nobody is in custody. They asked anyone with information to call the Rocky Mount Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division at 252-972-1450.
