— Four people were injured early Sunday during a shooting involving a vehicle as it was traveling east on U.S. Highway 64 in Rocky Mount, police said.

The shooting occurred at 1:25 a.m. near the Raleigh Street exit off the highway, shutting down the road for several miles.

Three of the four involved, an adult female, a juvenile and an infant were all taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for treatment. The infant was listed in serious condition Sunday night. The adult female was listed in fair condition. Both juveniles, a black male and a black female, were listed as stable.

The names of the injured were not released.

Employees at nearby restaurants and gas stations said detectives reviewed their surveillance video.

Police said the shooting wasn't random, but at this point, nobody is in custody. They asked anyone with information to call the Rocky Mount Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division at 252-972-1450.

No other details have been released.

So you're the one? When you're on top for so long, all they want to do is knock you down.

    Hey, Bill.
I don't believe a thing those women are saying about you drugging them.

So what I'm getting out of the comments here is that perhaps these were black astronomers?

It is likely that the race was "mentioned" only because the writer copied and pasted the information directly from the hospital or PD press release. It's amazing that the comments do not seem to relate to the state of the victims, the concern for the infant or the troubling report of a car full of people being attacked on the highway. Let's pray for our nation...

WRAL, you mention race when not necessary, yet when a criminal or escaped prisoner is on the loose, you don't mention race. Can we get that reversed, please?

In the interest of detailed reporting?

Fret not, you can find lots and lots of articles that fail to mention race, just code words like "teens", "youths", etc.

This is actually rare for the PC bunch at WRAL to mention race if it isn't a white person. Maybe I should play the lottery today?

Why do we need to mention the race when reporting this, WRAL? I will wait for a really good answer.

So many miscreants in this state. Who shoots a child and what are these people doing out after 1 am with a child in the car?

Early to bed and early to rise
Makes a man, healthy, wealthy, and wise.
It will also prevent getting shot at 1 am.
