KINSTON, N.C. — Four teenagers were charged Thursday after a student at Kinston High School was shot four times with a BB gun in the school's parking lot.

According to investigators, several people asked the victim to get into a white Chevrolet Impala at about 2:45 p.m. When he got inside, one of the four suspects pointed a BB gun at him and the doors of the car were locked.

The victim was shot four times in the arm before being released.

Four students – 16-year-old Tykel Lender, 17-year-old Curtis Car, 16-year-old Jontora Kinsey and 18-year-old Marquis Williams – are each charged with hazing, false imprisonment and misdemeanor possession of a weapon on educational property. Lender is also charged with simple assault.

All four suspects were placed in the Lenoir County jail under a $500 secured bond. They are expected to appear in court on Feb. 9.

Patrick Holmes, spokesman for Lenoir County Public Schools, said the four suspects were football players, but he does not believe the hazing charges were related to the team.

"They will be disciplined under the student code of conduct," he said.
