DURHAM, N.C. — Three people were taken to a local hospital after a head-on collision in Durham Wednesday afternoon.

Durham police spokeswoman Kammie Michael said a Toyota Sienna minivan headed west on Holloway Street around 3:15 p.m. crossed the center line and hit a Nissan Xterra between North Hyde Park Avenue and Calvin Street.

The impact pushed the SUV into a Lexus, Michael said.

The drivers of the minivan, Wesley Berger, 57, and the Xterra, Jose Trujillo – as well as a Richard Johnson, 44, a passenger in the minivan – were being treated for serious injuries. Michael said they did not appear to be life-threatening.

Allison Phillips, 31, the driver of the Lexus, was treated at the scene.

Michael did not say what might have caused the wreck, only that alcohol and speed did not appear to be factors.

Charges haven't been filed, she added, saying the wreck remains under investigation.
