Four charged in break-in at burned-out Raleigh bar

Warrants allege that the men broke into the Hibernian Pub, at 311 Glenwood Ave., on Tuesday and tried to steal 20 debit and credit cards and two bottles of alcohol.

Investigators say Derrick Jermaine Shipman, 20, of 4304 Presley Court in Raleigh, Ash-Mar Quadir King, 21, of 4824 Leafcrest Court in Raleigh, Marc Allen Cooper, 46, of Clover, S.C., and Julius Matthew Dickens, 25, of 3143 Calvary Drive in Raleigh, were arrested at the scene after police got a call about a break-in in progress.

They were each charged with breaking and entering, attempted larceny and resisting a public officer. Shipman faces additional charges of being a fugitive from another state, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen goods, injury to personal property and misdemeanor larceny.

Shipman was being held Thursday in the Wake County jail under a $201,500 bond, King and Cooper under $25,000 bonds and Dickens under a $15,000 bond.

The popular bar in Raleigh's Glenwood South building is in the rebuilding process after flames ripped through it on the day after Christmas in what appeared to be a grease fire.
