Fort Bragg spouse sentenced in baby's assault

Posted August 17, 2011

— The husband of a soldier at Fort Bragg has been sentenced to more than three years in jail for assaulting his 6-month old baby, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.

Robert A. Carter Jr. 26, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to violently shaking the baby in August 2010.

The child's mother came home from training and noticed the baby was not acting right and had a seizure. After tests, officials found the baby had been abused.

Carter has been sentenced to 40 months in prison and three years of supervised release.

mother has to live with the fact that she chose this man to father her child and will need counseling to convince her that it was not her fault and hopefully the baby will be ok but Mom has to take care of her. That is the life sentence Mom has been given. When someone hurts your child you feeel guilty for not protecting your baby

Sunshine...read the article... it was the husband of a soldier that abused the baby - not the mother.

When did Ft Bragg get Married . How about Ft Bragg soldier guilty of abusing an infant. And what is the name of the judge that only gives his a 40 month sentence Mom gets life and so does the baby. Does not seem fair when you look at it that way does it?

definitely not a harsh enough sentence. I'm sure he won't even serve the full 40 months he'll get out on "good behavior" or something like that.

He won't like his jail time for sure. lol

not good enough have some one shake him hard so his brain can rattle why are people abusing children and old people need to have stiffer sentences
