Fort Bragg soldier killed in Georgia auto crash

An 82nd Airborne Division paratrooper with Fort Bragg was killed in a multi-vehicle crash Thursday night in Georgia while helping a motorist with a flat tire, the Army said Tuesday.

Second Lt. Sean C. Putnam, 23, of Peru, Vt., was a fire support officer in B Company, 2nd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team.

The crash that killed Putnam also injured six others on Interstate 285 in Jonesboro, Ga., and remains under investigation according to the Clayton County Police Department.

Putnam, a graduate of Norwich University in Northfield, Vt., joined the Army in May 2012 and was assigned to the 82nd Airborne in April.

    Sadly, a good Officer was killed doing what was right. It didn't say if it was a drunk driver- or someone texting!
