— Cumberland County authorities on Tuesday arrested a Fort Bragg soldier in connection with the rape of a 22-year-old woman.

Donald William Bleyl, 37, of Sanford, faces second-degree forcible rape charges for an incident that occurred on Sept. 22 at a Fayetteville night club.

According to investigators, the woman was physically and mentally unable to resist or consent to the act due to extreme intoxication. Bleyl could face additional charges in the incident, the sheriff's said.

He was in the Cumberland County jail Wednesday under a $50,000 bond and was scheduled to make his first court appearance at 2:30 p.m.

whats sad is, if it happened at Westpoint Army Academy, it would have been brushed aside.

you have no idea of the things that happen on bases that you don't hear about.

it appears that WTVD reported a comprehensive story versus WRAL only reading an issued police press release.

    When was the trial? piene2

how quick we are to judge when we have only heard one side!!!
what happened to innocent until proven guilty.
    I'm just saying!

I could not agree more with the comments by JKKC. It seems as if WRAL reads a press release issued by a police department and that's it.

Let's be silly here and how about waiting till we get the whole story from both sides. Maybe she is now embarrased by her actions and is reacting this way, maybe he did take advantage of her while she was intoxicated. If he did, where were her friends, better yet, where were the level heads in the crowd who should have stepped up and did the right/human thing. Before anyone says it, no, not condoning rape at all. Just seems to be too much of the story missing. But that leads into the next thing, where do you draw the line on reporting this type of story. WRAL and other stations have hurt this young lady also, much the same as the 12 year old a couple of weeks back. However, WRAL reports what we want to hear, so we are as guilty as they are.

No one has the right to engage in sexual activity with another person without consent. Period.
