CARTHAGE, N.C. — A Fort Bragg soldier is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and first degree burglary.

Timothy Charles Wilkes, 43, of 6564 Pacifica Ave. in Fayetteville, was arrested on Monday, according to the Moore County sheriff’s office.

The charges stem from a domestic dispute at a residence outside of Southern Pines on Saturday.

The victim in the dispute suffered two broken arms and head injuries. She is expected to recover from the injuries, deputies said.

Deputies said the victim and Wilkes are married and have been separated for about a year. Her name was withheld at the request of the family, deputies said.

Wilkes is also charged with misdemeanor child abuse. The charge is based on the fact that children were in the home when the assault occurred, deputies said.

Wilkes was being held under a $500,000 bond at the Moore County jail on Tuesday. His first appearance in Moore County District Court is scheduled for Nov. 2.
