HOPE MILLS, N.C. — An Army chaplain who was hit by an SUV while jogging last week has died, authorities said Monday.

Capt. Billy Shane Stauffer was jogging on Rockfish Road in Hope Mills early Friday when he was hit, police said. He died Saturday at a nearby hospital.

No charges will be filed in the case. Hope Mills Police Capt. David Servie said Stauffer was running in the road and that the SUV had the right of way.
