FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Sewage from backed-up drains overflowed into an animal shelter at Fort Bragg, closing the building.

Animals, which had been relocated to the Hoke County Animal Shelter while renovations took place, were unaffected.

Shelter staff cited old pipes in the 70-year-old building as the cause of the backup. They expect to re-open by Aug. 20.
