CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A former University of North Carolina student who admitted to selling cocaine on campus cut a deal to reduce his jail time.

A judge on Wednesday sentenced Jonathan Plymale to 20 months in prison for trafficking. He faced up to 11 years, but because he assisted police in other arrests, that sentence was significantly cut.

His girlfriend was sentenced to 90 days on the same charges. Lawyers argued she was more help to the police in other cases.
