GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A jury has acquitted a former Goldsboro police officer on child sex charges, according to court records.

Chad Calloway, 44, of LaGrange, was fired in January and he was indicted in April following a State Bureau of Investigation probe.

Calloway was charged with statutory rape and indecent liberties with a minor in connection with alleged offenses dating to 1999, court records show.

He went to trial on the charges and was found not guilty earlier this month.
