RALEIGH, N.C. — It’s Memorial Day weekend, which is the unofficial start of summer. If you are staying in the Triangle, here are a few events.
WRAL Freedom Balloon Festival - This year’s festival all events and activities are held in Fuquay-Varina’s Fleming Loop Park. The event includes 35 hot air balloons, live music, food trucks and a merchant village.  The event was a lot of fun last year, especially in the evening when the balloons gathered for a glow. The event takes place Friday through Monday.
Cardinal Directions Beer Fest- This beer festival features more than NC breweries in the Carrboro Town Commons on Sunday, May 29th. Tickets are limited to 1,000, which provides a glass and 5 sample pours. Additional pours are available at the event.  The event also raises funds for Farmer Foodshare. Trucks scheduled for the event are Al’s Burger Truck, Belgian Waffle Crafters, Napoli Pizza, and Pho Nomenal Dumpling.
Food Truck Thursdays - Every Thursday at Knightdale Station Park, food trucks are parked for both lunch and dinner. This week Baozi with serve lunch and Pho Nomenal Dumpling and Two Roosters Ice Cream will be there for dinner.
New Food Truck Highlight - With new trucks entering the scene, we will feature a new food truck each week. You may have caught Banh Mi Ha Long at recent food truck rodeo. If you have not, their Facebook Page announces when they park in Cary at 1300 Buck Jones Road (not far from Walnut Street and US 1). I enjoyed their authentic Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches and many have praised their quality.
