Food Lion plans to remodel Raleigh stores

Posted March 7, 2015

Food Lion has just announced that they will be remodeling their Raleigh area stores in 2015. The remodel is part of the "Easy, Fresh and Affordable. You Can Count on Food Lion Every Day!" strategy. The Raleigh market remodels are expected to be completed in stores on a rolling basis between April and October 2015.

"We're proud to have been a part of the Raleigh community since 1975, and are excited to bring our Raleigh customers our newest format stores," said Food Lion President Meg Ham. "We've heard from our customers that they're seeking an easy, quick, convenient shopping experience, with quality, fresh products and the low prices they've come to expect from Food Lion. Through the remodels, this is exactly what Food Lion will deliver."

Raleigh is the third market to receive the store remodels. Seventy-six stores in the greater Wilmington, N.C., and Greenville, N.C., markets were remodeled in 2014.

Food Lion is based in Salisbury, N.C. and has more than 1,100 stores in 10 Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states. They employ more than 63,000 associates. Food Lion is a company of Delhaize America, the U.S. division of Brussels-based Delhaize Group.

Keep your eyes open for a coupon flyer in the mail announcing the renovations. I received it on Friday and am in Wake Forest. It included only Foodlion store coupons but several were for free items, including eggs, butter, pillsbury rolls and jif peanut butter! Used them yesterday and picked up a few additional item we needed. Another store coupon printed after my receipt for more free eggs 12-18 count. We'll be set for Easter!

it is kind of funny, we can't have an American based food store and need to have a Belgium based company to sell us food.

I only go to Foodlion because where I live there is Foodlion or Walmart, and IGA is just too dirty.

    That's just my two cents.

Kelsey - that is a great promotion! I will definitely ask about the promo at my local store. And thank you for continuing to read the blog from Jacksonville!

How about an organic section like Kroger has? It's small, but at least they have one.

I moved from Raleigh to Jacksonville, NC last year, but I still check on what Faye has to say before shopping. Our Food Lions got remodeled last fall, and when they were all complete they did a promo where the first 50 customers in the store each day got a $10 gift card. The GC didn't have to be used right away, and the promo lasted I think 5 days, so you could possibly get $50 in GCs. Hoping they bring that to the Raleigh areas, too! Keep ur eyes open because it wasn't in the circular or on the website for us. I only knew by visiting my store so often.

Yeah, and so far the remodels are going horribly. The Food Lion off of Durant makes no sense now. Seriously, I would have been happier with the same old Food Lion but with lower prices. Starting to get upset that we told Publix no, because if Food Lion has this much cash we are paying too much.

Stores need less junk in the aisles clogging things up....but what FL really needs is better customer service-- keep more lanes open during the peak times.

Thanks for the heads up, Jennifer! I hope they offer similar promos here.

Keep an eye out because when they were done remodeling all our stores in Wilmington they had a kick off event. They were giving away $10 gift cards to the first 50 customers everyday and had some AWESOME sales. The only thing I was really disappointed in was they took some of the counters to get fresh sliced deli meat out. But all the stores look great now

That will be nice! We are all spoiled by HT and publix!
