Posted September 4, 2013

Food Lion has some good deals starting 9/4 on canned vegetables, chicken breast, apples and more! There is also a new Store Brand Super Sale!

Thanks to bparrish for the reminder that the canned veggies are a great item to donate to your local food bank at this price and that they are a fantastic price for the free State Fair tickets! Buy 5 cans to donate at the Food Lion Feed the Hungry day on 10/24/13 at the NC State Fair & get one FREE admission!  Last year the amount of cans required for the free ticket was 4, but this year it is 5.

Please share any other good deals you find.  These deals are valid 9/4 -  9/10.

Food Lion Coupon Basics

Food Lion does not double coupons

They have no limits on number of coupons they will take, unless specified in the ad

BOGO items ring up at half price so if you only buy 1, it rings at half price. You can use a coupon on each BOGO sale item.

You cannot use Food Lion store coupons and manufacturer's coupons on the same item. "Stacking" coupons like that is not allowed per the Food Lion coupon policy.

The ad indicates that prices are valid for stores in these cities: Apex, Bunn, Cary, Clayton, Franklinton, Fuquay-Varina, Garner, Holly Springs, Knightdale, Louisburg, Morrisville, Raleigh, Rolesville, Wake Forest, Wendell, Youngsville, Zebulon. If you do not live in one of these cities, your ad may be different and you can check for any differences on FoodLion.com.

E-Coupons: You can now load RedPlum.com manufacturer’s coupons to your Food Lion MVP card and when they scan your card at the register and you buy the qualifying items, the discount will come off automatically. I spoke with corporate and they confirmed that these are manufacturer’s coupons and not to be combined with hard copy manufacturer’s from the newspaper and other sources. She said their policy is only 1 coupon per product. No e-coupons will double. Click HERE for more information.

Quality Guarantee: Food Lion offers a double money back quality guarantee on all Food Lion store brands.

Thanks again spalding. I hope they hav eit fixed soon, as well. I have not been to FL yet and probably won't get there for a few more days.

Phyllis - that is quite unfortunate that the manager was unaware of their policy on rolling the register coupons. I hope you expressed your discontent regarding her attitude to customer service.

If it was during the day, you could have let her know that you would like to call corporate from the store to verify because you are pretty sure you are allowed to use the coupon in another transaction that day. I have done it a few times for various reasons and it has always done the job. I have the corporate # for some stores on my cell just for that reason.

    You are welcome, Flying. :-)

    Got em...thanks, Faye!

  • TJ84 Sep 4, 2013

Faye, I didn't know if you had been there yet and wanted to give a heads-up on it. Anyway maybe by the time you get over there they have it going to the register that the customer is at! If not at least you know to ask them to go get it from the other register!

I also had a bad experience today at Food Lion, I was not allowed to use my $10.00 coupon in a second transaction, at first the register would not accept it, and a manager was called and she tells me I cant use it until tomorrow, I told her its never been like that before, and she said things change all the time, so I told her I didn't want any of the items and left the store. Called customer service when I got home and she said I should have been able to use the coupon and they will get the store straight. What upset me even more as I was leaving the store I hear the manager say to another store worker to watch out for people trying to use the coupon like I had really done something bad.

Seriously, spalding - your coupon printed at a different register?? Thanks for the warning. That is bizarre!

  • TJ84 Sep 4, 2013

Just got back from 40/42 Food Lion and purchased 10 cans of the vegetables. I didn't know it was a oyno coupon and asked the cashier if the $2.50 had come off the total. He didn't know anything about it so he asked the manager who said the coupons were coming out of a different register. And sure enough it was down at a different register! Just wanted to pass that along. If it hadn't been for this blog I wouldn't have known about the $2.50 off 10 (even though I know it's on the ad). I should have checked the blog before I went out today, just didn't think of it.

Flying - thanks for the reminder on the weekly coupons. They are not e-mailed until after I do the FL weekly deals post or I would include them before I publish the post.

FYI - if you sign up your MVP card online at FoodLion.com to receive the weekly e-newsletter, you should get these coupons e-mailed to you late each Tuesday evening.

  • FlyingUnderTheRadar Sep 4, 2013

Do the weekly emailed coupons happen to be available yet? Thx!

  • corbin04 Sep 4, 2013

Oh really Faye-I didn't realize I could use it at HT...it will pair well w/the next super doubles! :)

  • Faye Prosser - Smart Shopper Sep 4, 2013

Frugal - it should be an OYNO Catalina and you should be able to use it at HT and LF as a competitor's coupon as well. that's how it worked last time.
