Five questions with Midtown Grille's Scott James

— The field has been narrowed to the top four chefs at Fire in the Triangle. This week, we will be getting to know the semi-finalists a little better.

Chef Scott James of Midtown Grille will be facing Chef Chad McIntyre of The Market Tuesday evening for a spot in the final battle.

Here are James' answers to four questions we posed to him:

What are the five things that are always in your refrigerator at home?

Sriracha hot chili sauce
Sandwich fixings
Cucumbers
Bacon & eggs
Beer!

The last five restaurants where you dined – can’t be yours!

Butcher (NOLA)
Cochon (NOLA)

Five favorite cities to dine in and why?

New York - Mind blowing experience last summer dinning around Manhattan. Two words.....Ma Peche!

NOLA - Rich in culture and food history. The most hospitality driven city I've been to.

Boston - Was lucky enough to stage with a few great Boston chefs in 2009. Really cool food scene similar to N.Y. but a with a more relaxed pace.

Durham - Mateo, Vin Rouge, Pizzeria Toro, Toast, need I say more?

Kitty Hawk - I know most people would not think of the OBX for food but the Stack'em High at mile post 5 serves the best breakfast in N.C.! Two more words....DUCK DONUTS!

Finish this sentence – “The best thing I ever ate was…..”

Omakase treatment at Sono in Raleigh. The texture of his rice and sourcing of his seafood which I have been lucky enough to see first hand makes Sono special to me. I am hoping to cook a dinner with Mike Lee in the near future.
