RALEIGH, N.C. — Keep the Independence Day celebrations going with Local Color Gallery's patriotic art reception. The Red, White & Blue exhibition features art from all 11 members of the Local Color Gallery, inspired by the good ol' US-of-A.

While the opening reception of Red, White & Blue is this Friday from 6-9 p.m., the art will remain on display until July 27. This month's collection of art draws inspiration from the artists' recent travels.

Local Color Gallery is a co-op gallery of female artists working with a wide variety of mediums. The artists produce more than just paintings, although they exhibit  a range of styles and mediums in those too. The gallery features stained glass, pottery, jewelry and photography, which produces a unique collection of art. As the gallery name implies, all of the artists are local, so you can meet and chat with the creative genius behind your new favorite painting in person.

If you can't make it to the gallery this Friday, be sure to check out their other community events. The Plein Air Paint out, a day-long outdoor painting event, is in the spring, and the annual "Made Like That" student show is an exciting opportunity for aspiring high school artists.

There are many other First Friday events – check out our guide for food and drink specials, more art receptions and local store events.
