Firefighters extinguish blaze at Smithfield Packing Plant

Clinton, N.C. — Firefighters battled a blaze Sunday evening at the Smithfield Packing Plant in Sampson County.
The fire started at about 6 p.m. at the facility, 424 East Railroad St., Clinton. Crews were able to get the blaze under control about two hours later.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation Sunday evening.
