Firefighter injured battling fire at Pitt County home

— A firefighter suffered a broken leg early Friday while battling a fire at a home in rural Pitt County, officials said. 

The unidentified firefighter was injured when a wall collapsed on him.

Crews responded to the home, at 5621 Statonsburg Road near Farmville, at about 3 a.m. No one was inside the home when the fire started, and no other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.

    "Wounded" sounds like he was shot, "injured" was be more appropriate.

    What did he do have a shootout with the house and got wounded? Or was he doing his job and got injured.
