A fire truck was involved in a wreck in eastern Wayne County early Sunday afternoon, state troopers said.

<b>NEW HOPE, N.C.</b> — A Pinewood fire truck was involved in a wreck in eastern Wayne County early Sunday afternoon, state troopers said.

The wreck occurred at Mark Edwards and Hood Swamp roads in New Hope.

Firefighter Mark Wells, 44, from Goldsboro received non-life-threatening injuries.

Betty Zimmerman, 51, from Freemont was rising in the other vehicle and also received non-life-threatening injuries.

Both victims were transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment.
