RALEIGH, N.C. — Firefighters rushed to extinguish a blaze in the garage of a Raleigh home Sunday afternoon.

The fire started in an attic space above the garage at 722 Lakestone Drive shortly after 1 p.m., authorities said.

Two people were inside the house at the time, but both got out safely and were able to get two cars out of the burning garage before they were damaged.

"The main house may have suffered from light smoke damage and some water damage, but they kept the fire out of the house," Raleigh Fire Division Chief Ronny Mizell said.

Investigators haven't said what caused the blaze, but a neighbor said someone who lives in the house bumped into an iPhone charger that was plugged into the wall and that smoke started coming from it.

She left the room to get help and when she returned, the room was on fire, the neighbor said.
