Fire in the Triangle to highlight craft beer

Posted July 2, 2013

A look at the beer at Trophy Brewing Company in Raleigh.

Fire in the Triangle, an Iron Chef-like dining competition, always highlights local ingredients and now they are adding craft beer to the mix.

Sean Lilly Wilson, Fullsteam CEO and NC Brewers Guild president, has been working with the Competition Dining series to feature North Carolina beer during showdowns, organizers said Tuesday. During Fire in the Triad a few weeks ago, Foothills beer was featured as a secret ingredient.

They are expanding on that idea with the upcoming Fire in the Triangle. Organizers announced Tuesday that they will feature seven different North Carolina breweries in the upcoming battles. With a good response so far, they are hoping to line up Charlotte-area breweries for the Fire in the City series in Charlotte.

Each week, a brewery will select one or two different types of beer to feature. They will be served in bottles, cans and from growlers. There will be a beer list at each table and a representative will be on hand from each brewery to talk about why the beer pairs with the food and/or the secret ingredient of the night.

Here is the schedule for the breweries featured in Fire in the Triangle:
