Fire hits Raleigh dentist's office

The 200 block of W. Millbrook Road is restricted to one lane in each direction due to a fire at a nearby business, according to Raleigh police.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A two-alarm fire at a dentist's office temporarily closed part of West Millbrook Road in north Raleigh Thursday morning.

The fire was called in from 221 W. Millbrook Road at 7:13 a.m., according to the incident report. Heavy smoke was pouring from the two-story, wood-frame structure when the first firefighters arrived.

Approximately 45 firefighters labored to bring the blaze under control by 7:49 a.m., the report says.

No one was injured, but about a quarter of the building was damaged, rendering it uninhabitable.

The cause of the fire was ruled accidental, according to the report.

One lane of Millbrook Road was closed in both directions while crews battled the fire.
