RALEIGH, N.C. — A fire damaged a townhouse in a complex off Lynn Road in north Raleigh early Saturday, officials said.

The incident report says that a passerby reported the fire at 6729 Magnolia Court around 2:15 a.m.

Flames were showing from the first and second floors, and heavy smoke was pouring from the townhouse when firefighters arrived, the report says. Approximately 30 firefighters responded and brought the fire under control in a little more than 20 minutes.

The townhouse where the fire originated had significant damage, rendering it uninhabitable, according to the report. Adjoining units had only minimal damage.

Fire investigators determined that the blaze started in a first-floor bathroom. The cause was ruled as incendiary.

The townhouse was being renovated, and no one was living there at the time, fire investigators said.
