Firefighters rescue frightened fawn from Clayton storm drain

A baby deer was reunited with its mother Friday afternoon after being rescued from a storm drain in Clayton.

CLAYTON, N.C. — A baby deer was reunited with its mother Friday afternoon after being rescued from a storm drain in Clayton.

Officials said the fawn was found by neighbor Shannon Casey, deep in a storm drain on Averasboro Drive at about 3 p.m.

A firefighter was lowered down into the drain and rescued the frightened fawn.

The deer was released back to its mother. The fawn was not injured.
