Durham, N.C. — Six adults and six children were displaced from a Durham duplex early Tuesday after a fire that started on the back deck tore through the back of the building and into the attic, Durham Fire Department officials said.
Flames were shooting from the roof of the building, at 8 Brandywine Court, when fire crews arrived just after 1 a.m.
No resident was injured, but a firefighter received a minor facial injury. Red Cross officials were on scene following the fire to help the displaced residents.
Authorities were investigating the cause of the fire, but they said they ruled it accidental.
