— Fire destroyed a two-story home in the 1200 block of Red Oak Avenue late Wednesday, Durham Fire Department officials said.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the home at about 10:30 p.m. The fire was brought under control in 15 minutes and extinguished in 35, but the home was destroyed.

Heat from the blaze melted the headlight casings and bubbled the paint on a car parked next to the home, a Durham Fire Department spokesman said.

Nobody was inside the home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.

About 25 firefighters were on scene for about three hours. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
