Fire destroys restaurant in Southern Pines

— Fire destroyed a restaurant in downtown Southern Pines early Wednesday, Aberdeen Fire Department officials said. 

Crews responded to Artisan Wood Fired Pizza, at 127 West Pennsylvania Avenue, at about 3 a.m. The first was brought under control quickly, officials said, but it completely destroyed the interior of the restaurant, according to The Aberdeen Times.

No one was injured in the incident, and officials said it was unclear what started the blaze. No other information has been released.

    Hmmmm... Sounds like this fire and the fire at the restaurant in Sanford might be related. Both happening early in the morning. Hope they find out soon and if intentionally set catch the person doing it.

    The fire seamed to have destroyed this one and the one in Smithfield in much the same way, by the look of the structures. And similar timing. Odd.

    MEO--I had the same thought. Especially since they both occurred around 3am. Hope we are both wrong!

    Decades ago in a Western North Carolina community several schools burned. It turned out that a volunteer fireman was setting the fires to get the excitement of fighting them. With two restaurant fires in two days in our area, it makes one wonder if someone is deliberately setting the fires. I hope the SBI can determine the causes, and I hope both are accidental fires.
