Posted — UpdatedCrews responded to the home, at 2028 County Line Road, about 2 a.m. It wasn't clear what started the blaze, but the home was completely destroyed.
Neighbors told WRAL News that Leon Johnson Jr., the home's owner, and a woman were inside the home at the time of the fire. Ronnie Smith said Johnson and the woman had lived in the home for several years.
"They didn't ever meet a stranger," Smith said.
Authorities did not release the names of the people killed, but a Johnston County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said the bodies were sent to the Officer of the State Medical Examiner for autopsies.
