DURHAM, N.C. — Durham fire investigators were working early Thursday to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed a home on Lafayette Street.

The fire started around 8 p.m., officials said.

The family that lives at 2230 LaFayette St. was home when the fire started, but was able to get out before anyone was seriously injured. One person had second-degree burns on their legs.

Investigators weren't sure what started the fire.

Red Cross officials were working to provide temporary shelter for two adults and six children late Wednesday night.
