— A Clayton home burned during a fire early Friday, Johnston County authorities said.

Authorities said that a neighbor reported the fire in the Winston Pointe subdivision, off Guy Road, around 1:30 a.m. The home appeared to be destroyed by the fire.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported, authorities said.

Fire investigators remained at the scene, trying to determine the cause of the blaze.

I doubt its a builder, because one of the first things to burn down, actually twice, was the church on Barber Mill rd.

Call in the ATF...please for the sake of all Claytonites.

I've not heard any speculation that it could be a builder(s) burning down houses they can't sell so as to collect the insurance money and have it payoff the construction loan. Perhaps law enforcement has already ruled this out, since I'd think it would be the first place they look.

"When are they gonna catch the fire bug? My granny always said that whoever plays with matches, wets the bed." --Your granny rules... never heard that one. Makes me think we should lock up some bed-wetters so be on the safe side.

If this is the arsonist striking again, lots of folks ought to get really scared. This house is in a upscale, fairly new subdivision, with only a few houses in construction or built and not sold. In my case, its also less than 4 miles away.

OK enough is enough!!! When are these local yocals going to step aside and bring in someone that can catch this guy?!?!?! Is it going to take someone to get hurt or even killed before John bob or bubba step aside?? With all this new construction there is not a foot print, tire track, or some other trace left in the dirt/mud???

When are they gonna catch the fire bug?

My granny always sId that whoever plays with matches, wets the bed.

If that is the case, some has a very wet, yellow stained bed by now.
