Fire destroys Cary home

Cary, N.C. — Fire destroyed a home on Smokehouse Lane in Cary Monday evening, a town spokeswoman said.

When firefighters arrived on the scene shortly after 6 p.m., the house, at 101 Smokehouse Lane off Reedy Creek Road, was fully engulfed in flames.

No one was injured. The residents of the home were away on vacation, authorities said.

Fire investigators are working to determine how the fire started.

Reedy Creek Road was down to one lane for several hours while firefighters battled the blaze.

It's sad that these folks have lost their home. That's tough to come home to, but at least they were not home and injured, so if there's anything to be thankful for it's that no one was hurt. Things can be replaced, but people can't.

This home is well know in the neighborhood for being the scene of several weird incidents over the years. They built a brick wall after several cars actually hit the house due to the curve in road. And someone operated a security company out of the home for years, strange that the security system in the house was not state of the art.
