Durham, N.C. — Fire did heavy damage to a three-story commercial building in downtown Durham early Wednesday, authorities said.
More than 45 firefighters responded to 118. W. Parrish St. at about 2:30 a.m., and it took more than an hour for them to contain a fire on the third floor of the building. No injuries were reported.
According to investigators, the fire started in a photography studio. The blaze destroyed one room of the studio and caused severe heat damage to a second room of the studio and the roof of the building, Chris Ianuzzi, a spokesman for the Durham Fire Department, said.
A fitness studio on the second floor and restaurant on the first floor sustained water damage. None of the adjacent buildings were damaged.
Crews were on scene for about three hours, Ianuzzi said.
No information about the cause of the fire has been released.
