Fire damages new Wake Forest Town Hall

Posted February 16, 2009

— A construction worker was being treated for smoke inhalation Monday afternoon after a fire broke out at the new Town Hall under construction in Wake Forest.

A welder’s torch ignited roofing insulation around 1:30 p.m. causing a fire, Wake Forest Fire Chief A.E. Lynn said. The fire eventually spread to the roof decking, but was contained before causing further damage to the facility.

The construction worker was transported by ambulance to WakeMed for treatment. His name was not released.

Construction of the new Wake Forest Town Hall began last summer and is expected to be completed this fall.

THDLE- Have you ever been to town hall or the police station? It's a dump and it is a building that we need. You sound like another bitter old timer in WKF that has nothing better to do that sit around a complain. Have you ever done anything to contribute to the town? I'm guessing not. Just stay on the sideline and keep your mouth shut. If you don't like it, MOVE!

What a waste of taxpayer money. Wake Forest wants a me too tower to rival Raleigh's new courthouse along with the new facilities in Cary and Apex. No wonder taxes in Wake Forest are so high.
