Fire damages Fayetteville car audio business

Posted November 22, 2011

— Emergency crews responded to a fire at Banging Car Audio Systems, 849 Robeson St. in Fayetteville, Monday night.

The Fayetteville Fire Department responded to the fire just after 9:30 p.m. after a passer-by saw black smoke coming from the building.

There was extensive damage to the interior of the building, but no serious injuries were reported and the fire was contained. One fireman was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. He was later released.

The Fayetteville Police Department closed Robeson Street for about seven hours overnight while crews put out the fire and began investigating the cause.

Surveillance video helped determine that the cause was accidental.

No other information was released.

I, too, dislike the booming stereos, but I hate to see someone lose their business. This place just recently completed a rather extensive expansion.

Spend any time in rural Cumberland county and there are cars so loud you can hear them from a mile away coming down the road. Sorry to see someone lose their business, but that's the only sympathy I can offer.

Sorry to see the cause of so much pain and frustration burn down.
