Fire Damages Durham Apartments

— A fire tore through a duplex apartment in Durham, causing substantial damage overnight Friday.

The fire broke out in a building in the 1200 block of Washington Street shortly before midnight, police said. It took crews over an hour to bring the blaze under control.

No one was in the duplex at the time of the fire.

The entire duplex was damaged, with one apartment sustaining substantial damage, firefighters said.

Fire officials said they were investigating the cause of the fire.
