Fire burns hundreds of acres in Harnett County

— A fire in a wooded area burned about 200 acres in Harnett County on Tuesday afternoon, authorities said. 

The blaze broke out in Cameron along Ponderosa Trail near North Carolina Highway 27 and threatened homes near the Ponderosa Golf Course.

As of 8 p.m., 30 percent of the fire was contained. 

There were no reports of injuries. It is unknown what started the blaze.

    I hope they get it contained. It's going be dangerous fighting the fire today with the heat.

    Just wondering if this fire actually began Monday afternoon. I recall seeing a crowd of smoke down thataway as I drove about but I couldn't pinpoint the source of the plume.

    Fire is part of the natural cycle for pine forest and we have to get use to it just like the Californian's are use to fires and mud slides!
