Fire burns 70 acres northwest of Austin

A wildfire in Northeast Burnet County consumed about 70 acres Tuesday night. Fire crews from around the county battled the blaze in a very remote area along Burnet County Road 207, about 3 miles off of Farm to Market Road 963.

OAKALLA, TEXAS — A wildfire in Northeast Burnet County consumed about 70 acres Tuesday night. Fire crews from around the county battled the blaze in a very remote area along Burnet County Road 207, about 3 miles off of Farm to Market Road 963.

The fire was first reported around 8:00 pm Tuesday and by 10:00 pm crews had already begun mopping up the remnants.

The fire threatened a few structures but quick action by emergency responders kept flames away from nearby gives.

The cause is still under investigation however, officials did say that it appears that the fire started along the roadway.
