A fire at a Knightdale auto shop closed part of US Highway 64 and Knightdale Boulevard on Thursday night.

<b>KNIGHTDALE, N.C.</b> — A fire at a Knightdale auto shop has closed part of US Highway 64 and Knightdale Boulevard on Thursday night.

The Knightdale Fire Department confirmed a vehicle fire occurred in the garage bay of Tyrolf Automotive on Knightdale Boulevard. Damage from the fire did not spread beyond the garage and the fire was extinguished as of 9:45 p.m.

Two lanes of US 64 were closed as well as part of Knightdale Boulevard. Fire crews from Wendell, New Hope, Zebulon and Wake County responded. There was no word on injuries.

According to the Sampson County Sheriff's Office, a school resource officer discovered the body of a man inside a vehicle at Hobbton High School's athletic field. Authorities believe the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
