DURHAM, N.C. — After five months in Durham, Finch's Restaurant has announced it will close this weekend.

"All of us deeply appreciate all of the love and support we have been shown and we couldn’t thank you more. We’re saddened to announce the news, but it’s time to retire," owners posted on the restaurant's Facebook page.

Finch's opened in the 1945 on West Peace Street in Raleigh. The place became known for its hot breakfast all day. A state funded project to redo the Capital Boulevard Bridge, which runs over Peace Street, meant destruction of Finch's original home. The Capital Boulevard work is part of a bigger project to replace the old bridges in the area.
In January 2017 after nearly 70 years of operation, Finch's closed its doors. Nine months later, it reopened at 3211 Chapel Hill Road in the former Family Garden plant store and greenhouse in Durham.

Finch's will serve its last meal in Durham on Sunday.

Owners said that East Cut, a restaurant serving gourmet sandwiches, soup, salads, beer and wine, would be opening in its place.
