Final push of 18th Airborne Corps soldiers deploy to Kuwait

Lt. Col. Andy Dermanoski has deployed three times, but this time, his youngest son is having a tough time.

"He's really, really, really sad this time," said Dermanoski. "He is pretty much been clinging on to me the whole time. So, we will see. It will be a little bit harder for him I think than for me."

Dermanoski and his family moved to Fort Bragg last month. He said that, while he has deployed before, it never gets any easier.

Mike Rutherford's son is headed to his first deployment.

"He always wanted to be in the Army ever since he was a child," he said. "We are all very nervous, very proud of him. I know he is going to do exceptionally well."

The XVIII Airborne Corps has trained hard for its mission, but the soldiers know the work will not be easy.

"It's not easy work, but we have done more with less. So, I think that makes us all the more qualified to do it," Pfc. Josh Rutherford said.
