Fifth suspect in teen's slaying, arson arrested in Ariz.

Police in Phoenix, Ariz., made a third arrest Thursday in the slaying of 17-year-old boy whose body was found in a burning house last month, Rocky Mount police said.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Police in Phoenix, Ariz., made a third arrest Thursday in the Sept. 4 slaying of a 17-year-old boy whose body was found in a burning house, Rocky Mount police said.

Juan Ashaki Simmons, 33, of Tischer Drive in Rocky Mount, is accused of accessory after the fact for murder and accessory after the fact for arson in the death of Chavalis Boyd.

Authorities have said Boyd was shot to death before firefighters found his body inside a house at 7210 Silver Leaf Road.

Brain Carney, 20, of 237 S. Winstead Ave. in Rocky Mount; Nathan Jones, 32, of 1913-D Tischer Road in Raleigh; and Corey Jermaine Lee, of 128 Thorne Ridge Circle in Rocky Mount; face first-degree murder, armed robbery and arson charges in Boyd's death.

Quantisha Lushun Moss, 21, of Kenly, has also been charged with accessory after the fact of murder.

Along with Simmons, Carney and Jones were arrested in Phoenix. Lee and Moss were arrested in North Carolina.

Simmons is being held in Phoenix, awaiting extradition.

Rocky Mount police said they expect to make additional arrests in the case.
