Teen charged in Moore County hit-and-run

— Southern Pines police charged an 18-year-old Wednesday in a hit-and-run crash that sent a 56-year-old pedestrian to the hospital with serious injuries.

According to investigators, Christopher Ignatius Dejak hit the unidentified woman at about 9 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Hardin Street in Southern Pines. The woman was leaving a town council meeting at the Douglas Community Center, officials said.

Dejak was charged with felony hit-and-run and taken to the Moore County jail, where he was placed under a $5,000 secured bond.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was airlifted to UNC Hospitals. No other information about the crash was available.

    This is the 2nd hit and run this week in Moore County. I agree with the 1st comment,.....what is wrong with people? Not stopping? Both were airlifted.
