FEMA disaster center open on Goose Creek Island

A disaster recovery center is open in Hobucken on Goose Creek Island to help survivors with property damage and other setbacks from Hurricane Irene.

HOBUCKEN, N.C. — A disaster recovery center is open in Hobucken on Goose Creek Island to help survivors with property damage and other setbacks from Hurricane Irene. 

The center is located at the Goose Creek Community Center at 51 Hobucken School Road and will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. on Sundays. 

Representatives from North Carolina Emergency Management, FEMA and other agencies will be at the center to explain assistance programs and help survivors apply for disaster aid.

Those hoping to obtain FEMA aid should bring a social security number, total household income and a complete list of damages and losses.
